Video Relay Services (VRS)

Video Relay Service, or VRS, is a type of telecommunications relay service that allows deaf and hard of hearing persons to communicate in American Sign Language with voice telephone users through video equipment. VRS involves a vertical interaction of three separate components: videophone equipment, a communication technology platform, and interpreter service. ZVRS/Purple supplies all three components as a single vertical package in an efficient manner. This is federally funded by the FCC and free for both parties. Some of these components are shared among ZVRS/Purple’s three other service offerings to optimize the resourcefulness of these components.
